IFS English - Module 1 - Parts of Speech - Slides
  • Each language has its own alphabet, and it also has its own Grammar.
  • For English, all the words we see are divided into nine classes or categories. These classes are called Parts of Speech.
  • We speak words. We also speak names, actions, qualities, connectors, and exclamatory words. We speak and that is what we call a SPEECH. Every Word belongs to a Parts of Speech category.
  • They are Nouns, Pronouns, Adjectives, Verbs, Adverbs, Prepositions, Conjunctions, Interjections and Article Determiners.
  • Remember that the same word can be a Noun and in the following sentence it can be USED as a VERB.
